Parents reported lower subjective wellbeing for children with ASD (n = 515) compared to typically developing children (n = 515). Age or gender did not affect subjective wellbeing in children with ASD or typical development. In typically developing children subjective wellbeing decreased with age while it increased with age in children with ASD. Subjective wellbeing may be related to different social developmental processes in TD and ASD during early adolescence.
