Hybrids from photo-crosslinked alginate/gelatin hydrogels and SiO2 were obtained. Mechanical properties of the resulting organic-inorganic hybrids might be adjusted. Addition of SiO2 does not compromise cytocompatibility of developed materials. Hybrids present good properties to be evaluated as a novel bioactive scaffolds.
