Sub 200 nm BSA-loaded nanoparticles were prepared by solvent displacement method. Polylactide nanoparticles were cationic functionalized using hyperbranched polyethylenimine (PEI). The interaction of surfactant with PEI affected the stability of BSA-loaded nanoparticles. The PEI/PLA ratio was controlled to obtain biocompatible cationic nanoparticles. The electrostatic gradient on surface of particles controlled the diffusion rate of BSA.
