Solidification of additive-enhanced phase change materials in spherical enclosures with convective cooling

Solidification of phase change materials is studied under convective cooling. Solidification time decreases with subcooling and external heat transfer coefficient. Solidification time reduces 30–50% with 1.57 vol% nanoadditives. The effect of nanoadditives is more pronounced with water cooling than in air. Model is developed to predict solidification time with different convective cooling.
