A new use of hydrotalcite-graphene composites as base-catalysts was studied. The role of the synthesis routes on the final hybrids properties was established. HT/rGO hybrids by coprecipitation were highly homogeneous, with small HT nanosheets. A correlation was found between structure and basicity. The reaction rate increases with the density of strong basic sites.
