Musa Creek, northwest of the Persian Gulf, receives a large volume of pollutants. Pb, Zn, Hg, Cu, and Cd were measured in sediment. Plasma level of fish erythropoietin was measured as a biomarker of pollution exposure. Erythropoietin could be considered as a suitable biomarker of pollution. Hematopoietic changes correlate with geographical conditions and pollution sources.
