MDS are emerging disorders with an increasing burden on healthcare systems. Population growth and higher diagnostic awareness will influence prevalence of MDS. Population-based cancer registries are insufficient for MDS health services research. The current study will lay the foundation for formulating recommendations. A new cancer registration law and the Swiss MDS Registry will help to improve.
