Global analysis of uncertainty in grassland soil C stock (177 sites from 51 studies). Spatial scale and profile depth explained 44% of variability of C stock uncertainty. Uncertainty in soil C stock increased with spatial scale and profile depth. Minimum detectable change of C stocks increased with spatial scale and profile depth.
