Size-dependent dynamic instability of geometric non-linear plate-type MEMS has been studied. The higher-order non-classical boundary conditions of the problem have clearly been determined. A non-classical reduced order model for the governing equations of motion has been presented. The present results match excellently with FE findings and those available in the literature. The combined effects of size, plate aspect ratio and geometric nonlinearity has been investigated.
