Broadband energy harvesting using nonlinear vibrations of a magnetopiezoelastic cantilever beam

The nonlinear mechanical behavior of a unimorph piezoelectric cantilever beam with a tip magnet and two external magnets, and nonlinear boundary conditions under base acceleration as a broadband energy harvester is studied. The conservation of energy was examined in the absence of the mechanical damping ratio and under free vibration conditions. It has been found that when the value of the mechanical damping ratio is high the energy harvester does not experience nonlinear behavior. It is revealed that adding a simple tip magnet and two external magnets by proper values for tip magnet and gap distance, significantly affects the scavenged power. It is shown that considering geometric nonlinearity and nonlinear boundary conditions, affect and widen the frequency ranges. In addition, it is revealed that in the same consideration, the output power improved.
