Tensile strength of butt welds decrease more than that of the steel after fire. A 20% reduction in residual tensile strength is suggested for butt welds after fire. Capacity of butt weld connections decrease less than bolted connections after fire. GB50017 gives an over conservative estimate for strength of fillet welds.
