B-DNA-based Ag NCs as a fluorescent probe presented a strong and stable red fluorescence. The probe gave a high specific and sensitive response to Hg2+, with a detection limit of 4.5 nM. Both dynamic and static quenching mechanism might occur in the quenching system. The proposed approach had also been successfully applied to the detection of Hg2+ in the real water samples.
