The effect of nutrient loading on rocky intertidal seagrasses is not well studied. Regionally, development was negatively associated with Phyllospadix bed thickness. Locally, shoot δ15N was negatively associated with Phyllospadix bed thickness. Mesocosms with added nutrients had a net loss in shoots and increased epiphytes. Nutrient loading may have a negative effect on intertidal seagrass bed health.
