31P MRS imaging data were acquired from adolescent bipolar disorder subjects.

High energy phosphate levels were determined in homogeneous gray and white matter.

For bipolar subjects: PCr decreased in gray matter, ATP decreased in white matter.

Findings consistent with downregulation of creatine kinase.

Further supports bioenergetic impairment in bipolar disorder.
