Using micro-ct to investigate nanofluid droplet sorption in dry powder beds

文摘
Ferrofluid drops impact and absorb into dry PMMA powder beds at low speed. Resulting granules are visualized via micro-CT and their geometry is recorded. Ferrofluid improves visualization by augmenting the density of the saturated region. Results suggest capillary and buoyancy forces re-pack the powder bed during sorption. Re-packing pushes the ferrofluid to the wetting front below the powder bed surface.
