Nanosilica-based electrochemical biosensor developed for the detection of platelet-derived microparticles (PMPs). Electrochemically deposited thionine doped silica and HRP entrapped mesoporous silica utilized for detection of platelet activation markers. Detection of PMPs through two different antibodies enhances the specificity of the sensor, minimizing the chance of false detection. Detection and quantification of PMPs provide information about platelet quality over storage. The proposed biocompatible sensor offers label-free, ease of miniaturization, and short analysis time for the detection of biomarkers.
