The threshold temperature of friction pair are determined at elevated temperature environment as the emergence criterion of different tool wear mechanism.

A mathematical model of milling tool wear is proposed by temperature dependent wear mechanism.

The results show that the established milling tool wear model is useful and accurate as the errors of predicted minimum values and experimental values are within 10%.
