The effects of mechanical alloying process on W–Y system powders were studied.

The microstructure evolutions of milled powders and consolidated compacts were investigated.

The super-saturated but homogeneous W–Y solid solution could be formed at the milling time of 15 h.

Excessive O impurity resulted in the decrease of density and degradation of bending strength.
