High-resolution global maps of 21st-century annual forest loss: Independent accuracy assessment and application in a temperate forest region of Atlantic Canada
We assess the applicability of the global forest loss map as forest harvest layer. Thematic, temporal and structural accuracy was assessed with a harvest census. Results confirm accurate detection and delineation of cutblocks for this region. Accuracy decreases with cutblock size and harvest intensity. Intensive harvest in headwaters calls for ongoing monitoring of the Miramichi basin.
