This study assessed inter and intra laboratory variation for DNA mixture interpretation. 26 reporting officers from three ISO17025-accredited laboratories participated. Variation in interpretation was observed; less within than between laboratories. Results reflect the complexity threshold currently in use by the laboratories. For training purposes, profiles of mixed stains and references are made available.
