Two new naphthoate-decorating 8-hydroxyquinoline-Bodipys with different molecular configuration have been synthesized. Naphthoate-decorating 8-hydroxyquinoline-Bodipys display diverse optical properties due to their different molecular arrangement. These two compounds show similar fluorescent ON-OFF response to Cu2+ based on the photo-induced electronic transition mechanism.
