A novel D2-A-D1-A-D2-type donor–acceptor conjugated small molecule was synthesized. The DTPA-Q-BDT-Q-DTPA exhibited an absorption spectrum from 300 to 700 nm. The DTPA-Q-BDT-Q-DTPA-based devices exhibited the highest PCE of 1.22%.
