Polyphenolic compounds were sustained released from maqui berry.

Flavonoids bioaccessibility was lower than phenolic compounds.

Maqui berry showed antioxidant activity in each phase of gastrointestinal digestion.

The antioxidant activity could be attributed to anthocyanin contents.
