Insight into the promotion mechanism of K and Ni in sulfide molybdenum-based catalysts for higher alcohols synthesis from syngas

A series of K and Ni-promoted sulfide molybdenum-based catalysts were synthesized. The catalysts had different performance on conversion of syngas to higher alcohols. The role of K was to construct active phase K-Mo-S by the interaction of K with the MoS2 edge. Ni played a role in the further enhancement of catalytic performance of K-Mo-S species.
