MoO3@TiO2 core-shell nanorods (MT) show a better photochromic efficiency than MoO3, due to the heterojunction formed. For MT, the proper energy band alignment between the MoO3 and TiO2 can efficiently rectify the charge transfer. The Ti3+ defects in TiO2 increased the carrier concentration and mediated the charge transfer. For MT after annealing, The large interfacial contact area also favored the superior performance.
