Effects of axially variable diking rates on faulting at slow spreading mid-ocean ridges

文摘
A slow-spreading ridge with spatially variable diking rates is numerically modeled. Faulting modes are sensitive to average diking rates and fault weakening rates. Faulting modes are relatively indifferent to local extreme values of diking rates. Along-axis stress coupling tends to homogenize fault offset along the ridge. Oceanic core complexes can transition to abyssal hills within a 20 km-long segment.
