Effect of SCD gene on fatty acid (FA) profile & meat quality was analyzed in sheep.
DNA sequence and SSCP analyses revealed two genotypes of A and B in SCD locus.
T-test showed no allelic and genotypic frequency differences between two breeds.
SCD significantly affected several FAs, and their indices & ratios and meat color.
Genotype B resulted in a more desirable proportion of FAs & better meat color.
