Participants watched animated video clips of traffic scenarios. Video durations varied between 1 and 20 s. Participants' awareness of the locations of cars was saturated at video lengths of 7–12 s. Participants needed at least 20 s to assess relative speeds. This study introduced an innovative SA assessment method by means of geometric difference.
