This report identifies an approach of fabricating PEM based on SPES and NPHCs.

The proton conductivity of composite blend membranes, improved with increasing NPHCs content in SPES matrix due to the hydrophilic nature of NPHCs.

The methanol permeability of the fabricated membranes was very low compared to Nafion-117.

The fabricated composite membranes exhibited better electrochemical selectivity than Nafion membranes.
