Tribological and corrosion behaviors of Mg56.5Cu27Ag5Dy11.5 bulk metallic glass in NaCl solution

Wear behavior of Mg-Cu-Ag-Dy BMG under different conditions was investigated. Mg-BMG exhibits superior strength and hardness than AZ31B and pure Mg. Mg-Cu-Ag-Dy shows the best wear resistance sliding in air and NaCl solution. Mg-BMG displays decreased wear resistance in NaCl as compared to dry sliding. Mg-BMG subjects to tribocorrosion due to its inferior corrosion resistance in NaCl.
