A novel rapid picture naming test, the MULES, was assessed as a potential concussion screening tool. We piloted the MULES in a cohort of volunteers and compared it to the King-Devick test of rapid number naming. Both tests involve saccadic and other eye movements, which are affected in concussion. The MULES test may engage different and more extensive neural systems. In the future, the MULES test of rapid picture naming will be assessed on athletic event sidelines.
