BCNW were incorporated into thermoplastic corn starch nanocomposites (TPCS).

Colourless TPCS/BCNW nanocomposites were prepared by melt blending process.

BCNW enhanced oxygen barrier up to 95% as compared to the neat TPCS.

Multilayer structures based on TPCS/BCNW films and PHA/BCNW coatings were developed.

Barrier properties of the multilayer structures thus obtained were significantly improved.
