Cellulose fibers can be isolated into nanoscale via pure mechanical defibrillation. Simple pretreatment by 4% NaOH could enhance defibrillation into nanocellulose. Isolation behavior by microfluidizer occurred along and across the length of fiber. Lower fiber content offered greater defibrillation. Longer isolation time provided more transparency of nanocellulose film.
