Automotive shredder residue (ASR) was used to synthesize titanium nitride (TiN). Kinetics and parameters that control the TiN formation were investigated. Different unique structures of TiN with a high degree of conversion have been obtained. Waste can be excellent materials to produce advanced materials for many applications.
