A hybrid nanoparticle consisting of a pH sensitive lipid shell and a poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid core was constructed.

The hybrid NPs are stable and can minimize the release of enclosed antigens during circulation.

The hybrid NPs can be internalized by dendritic cells (DC) readily.

A burst release of antigens was observed upon internalization of the NPs by DCs.
