We prepare the dimpled gradient nanoscale TiN layer by SFPB and glow-discharge plasma nitriding.

The layer is in situ induced on the pure titanium surface with excellent tribological properties.

The dimples on the TiN surface are beneficial to the reservation of lubricating oil and wear debris.

The gradient nanoscale structure improves the synthetic mechanical properties and reduce the friction and wear.
