SAXS is ideal for RNAs that are intractable for crystallography, NMR and cryo-EM. Non-canonical synthetase functions include recognition of tRNA-like elements. Studying tRNA-like elements by SAXS requires rigorous sample preparation. Preparation of RNA and RNA-protein complexes for SAXS studies. Principles for accurate analysis of SAXS data are presented.
