Co–CuBi2O4 and Cu–CuBi2O4 were synthesized for SA degradation via PMS activation.

Effects of pH, L and D on SA degradation were investigated.

Effects of common water matrix species on SA degradation were assessed.

Empirical relationship between kapp, L and D was obtained.

A method to calculate [SO4radical dot]Nss and [radical dotOH]Nss is proposed.
