Ball milling of high carbon ferro chrome slag to liberate the alloy for gravity concentration

Bij and Si of a HCFeCr slag were determined by milling experiments using the monosize fraction method. Increasing mill speed from 75% Ncrit to 85% Ncrit increased Si for all size fractions, increase to 90% Ncrit reduced Si Increase in U from 40% to 60% increased Si for dp < 5.6 mm and decreased Si for dp > 5.6 mm, at U of 80%, Si decreased sharply. Particles in range -1.18 + 0.6 mm contain the highest amount of the FeCr alloy and the least amount of SiO2. The PBM predicted product PSD fitted the experimental data well.
