High speed imaging of cavitating flow past a circular cylinder is described. Reynolds number of the flow (64,000) is in the sub-critical flow regime. Correlation and formation lengths based on images of cavity structures are shown at different cavitation numbers. Frequency analysis based on images of cavity structures brings out different regions inside the flow field. Shedding frequency obtained from image analysis matches with that from pressure fluctuation data.
