More than one Garden dormouse females were found rising their litters together in the same nest. The occurrence of communal nests varied in orange groves according to the number of total nests and no seasonal variation was found. Litter protection from predators or conspecifics represented the most likely factor explaining this strategy based on the habitat characteristics. An adult dormouse female and her daughter were found sharing the same nest showing that familiar relationship existed in Garden dormouse communal nests.
