Post-translational modifications of proteins are the basic step of NET formation. Modified proteins are immunogenic since they stimulate formation of autoantibodies. NET seems active in autoimmune diseases characterized by different autoantibodies. NET component characterization could clarify the pathogenesis of these diseases.
