A unique optical network architecture with a decomposed crossbar design is proposed. Dynamic bandwidth reconfiguration achieves higher network throughput. Dynamically reconfiguring the laser source at runtime reduces power dissipation. The proposed architecture excels on multiple metrics of power, area, and throughput.
