5,3′-dihydroxy-3,7,4′-trimethoxyflavone (DTMF) was isolated from S. pubescens.

DTMF has neuroprotective and anti-neuroinflammatory activities.

DTMF increased the HO-1 expression via Nrf2/ARE signaling in BV2 & HT22 cells.

DTMF decreased microglia-mediated toxicity & primary mouse hippocampal neurons death.

DTMF can be used for the prevention of functional neuronal cell damage.
