Level of serum thioredoxin and correlation with neurocognitive functions in patients with schizophrenia using clozapine and other atypical antipsychotics
Thioredoxin levels were higher in psychotic episodes and decreases after treatment; but still higher than healthy controls. Thioredoxin may not be used as a marker to detect the early stages of illness, but could be a marker for psychotic episodes. No correlation has been found between thioredoxin levels and treatment with clozapine or other atypical antipsychotics. The relationship between thioredoxin level and attention should be investigated in further researches.
