CSF MIF were higher in neurosyphilis patients than syphilis/non-neurosyphilis patients. CSF MIF concentrations can be used as a novel cerebrospinal fluid marker to establish or exclude a diagnosis of neurosyphilis. The sensitivity of CSF MIF was higher than that of CSF pleocytosis and CSF increased protein in diagnosis of probable neurosyphilis.
