The proposed strategy improves the Newton method in geometric non-linear analysis. It can be used with displacement-based finite elements and is called MIP Newton. The main idea is to relax the constitutive equations at each integration point. MIP Newton converges faster and withstands larger increments. Its implementation in existing codes is very easy.
