Production of very-high purity succinic acid from fermentation broth using microfiltration and nanofiltration-assisted crystallization

Cross-flow microfiltration prevented cake deposition at high cross flow velocity. Mathematical modelling was used to estimate the resistances which caused the decline in MF flux. Nanofiltration effectively removed proteins, macro-molecules, and multivalent ions. Diananofiltration mode enhanced the recovery of organic acids from fermentation broth Very high purity of succinic acid was obtained after crystallization process.
