Expression of secreted phosphoprotein 1 (osteopontin) in human sensorimotor cortex and spinal cord: Changes in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
The SPP1 expression in human S1 was weaker than M1. SPP1 was expressed in motor neurons in the human spinal cord. SPP1 may have a role in the specialization of motor projection neurons The expression was reduced in both M1 and the spinal cord of ALS patients. The reduced expression may be implicated in the neurodegeneration seen in ALS.
