Primary nucleation in cooling dual impinging jet (DIJ) mixers is analyzed.

The DIJ mixers generate supersaturation by combining hot and cold liquid solutions.

Spatial distributions are derived for temperature and supersaturation.

High local supersaturation can occur near the interface of hot and cold solutions.

Criteria are given for assessing feasibility of nucleation for specific compounds.
